The Face Doctor

Recently  Off the Peg was invited to the launch evening of The Face Doctor, Bubbly, cakes and beauty products  do I need much more to tempt me?!

The Face Doctor is situated just opposite the entrance to John Lewis   (Lower Peel avenue)

We were met by the lovely Gemma who introduced us to the world of medical rejuvenation treatments & high quality skincare products.

I underestimated how many treatments The Face Doctor actually do from manicures, face fillers to massages you are literally spoilt for choice, the list is endless!

During the evening we got to witness a vein removal process carried out with the use of Thermal Vein technology the result was very impressive and totally safe with no side effects.

We also got given a goodie bag full of products to try, these smelt incredible  I for sure will be making a trip back to purchase more I can’t get enough of the body creams!

Thank you again The Face Doctor

DINING WITH MISS KITTY

What better way to start your weekend than dining with Miss Kitty, this certainly is a hidden gem!
The vibe at Miss Kitty's has been described by its owner Rob Gutmann as being like a Shanghai tea house/opium den.
Walking up the stairs, past a neon silhouette of a reclining lady, I was pleasantly surprised at how spacious it is up there still with an intimate dining space.
The dim lighting, wood sleepers and bird cages certainly add to the atmosphere!

we were seated and handed a menu, of course I went straight to the cocktails and rightly so I had heard so much about them I had to try one for myself!
we were also given a free pot of jasmine tea this was a nice touch! Chinese food a pot of tea and a cocktail, I was in my element,  I mean who wouldn't be!

Situated along Fleet street we left behind the shabby streets of Liverpool and
dinned orient at dark

I look forward to dinning with Miss kitty again!

London Life

London, What a city!

You could spend a lifetime here and would still feel you haven’t experienced everything it has to offer!  You could literally never get bored!

I suppose London is like Marmite you either love or hate it, if you can get past the hustle and bustle of everyday life.

There is always so much to do and not enough hours in the day to explore it all! So whenever I’m in town I like to explore new places.

A week ago now I was  in London for my birthday and what better way to celebrate then being wined and dined at Heston Blumenthal Restaurant if that wasn't enough to woo you then the  views certainly would (Hyde Park as a backdrop) …I know it’s not your typical Saturday night meal!!

Heston's food certainly lived up to expectations! All is not what it appears!! When it comes to food I do always like to try new things and embrace where I am!  A must have when you are dining at Heston’s is the most talked about Meat Fruit it looks exactly like a mandarin!

Chicken Lettuce

Poached Rhubarb

So London it’s been a pleasure as always, until next time!

Cheltenham Ladies Day

When I found out Off the Peg had been chosen to attend Cheltenham Ladies Day as a blogger I was over the moon, this was our first ever blogging event!

The morning of the races was an early start but after a big breakfast and a glass of champagne (it would be rude not too) I was ready for the day ahead! Let the traveling commence 2.5 hours later and we finally arrived in Cheltenham making our way to the Etail-PR offices where we were greeted with another glass of champagne and met the Etail-PR team who were absolutely lovey and very welcoming!

Finally we arrived at the racecourse! Although the sun didn’t make much of an appearance it didn’t stay dull for very long, as it was Ladies Day #ColourMeMarch thousands of women ascended upon the race course dressed to the nine, everywhere you looked it was an array of colours!

Off the Peg always on the look out for style inspirations

There’s something about the races, the atmosphere is amazing! You get some sort of buzz off everyone throughout the whole day, so as the races started the bets are coming in, now I wouldn’t say I make a habit of betting normally because I tend to loose every time! But Ladies Day I kept picking the winners, people kept asking me what tips I had (just picked the name I liked the look off) I think they thought I was joking!

As the last race was coming to a close so was my time at Cheltenham and what a fabulous day!      Off the Peg will certainly be making another appearance next year!

Thanks again Etail-PR

Body Jewellery Shop

I admit I am a Jewellery junkie but even more so when it comes to Ear piercings! Recently I received earrings from Body Jewellery Shop in the post!

Body Jewellery Shop is an online store that sells literally any sort of Jewellery for every piercing! I was spoilt for choice! If you’re looking to jazz up your look then I 100% recommend having a look at their website, you will not be disappointed.

I have had my helix pierced for 5 years now and for the majority of that time I have only ever wore a plain bar (boring I know)  so I was made up when I was sent two helix earrings one Sterling silver and a Rose Gold plated Ear cuff I absolutely love these ear cuffs especially the rose gold it’s not something I have seen before.

When I first went to wear this ear cuff I had a slight problem undoing the ball it was a little awkward to screw the ball back on because it’s so small, so if you can I’d advise to get someone to help you with this earring! Or you may find yourself searching high and low for the ball you’ve just dropped!

The next product I was sent are these gorgeous studs, these are another one of my favourites on the website! Jewelled Square Clear earrings I was surprised at how sparkly these actually are! And due to their simple classic look they go perfectly with every outfit!

What I Would Wear To The Races

The most glamourous day in the racing calendar is nearly upon us, Cheltenham Races. With any sort of race day comes the dilemma of trying to find the perfect outfit, every year we must spend hours if not days searching for that perfect dress, shoes, bag and fascinator.

I absolutely love the races, it’s a chance for you to get your glad rags on, sip champagne and put some bets on, can you get any more civilised?!
Previous years I have gone to The Grand National or Ladies Day in Aintree which have never disappointed and always been brilliant days out.

Dressing for the occasion could be a little problematic, as the event is held in March it’s more than likely to still be cold and rain is most likely, dressing appropriately is a must, there’s nothing more I hate then being absolutely freezing at these events.

It’s quite a formal occasion Ladies Day, which means it’s acceptable to dig out the highest pair of shoes and biggest hat you own!

As for the outfit I don’t think I could get away with a really summery number, black could be classed as too wintery and white, well that could end in disaster!

So I picked this dress from TFNC LONDON the dress design is made up of beads which makes it a little heavy when worn but it’s perfect for Ladies day! I would team this up with a pashmina to keep me a little warmer! I have some black Carvela shoes which would go perfect with this dress, plus they are so comfortable! Another must when you are at the races and finally to finish the look I would add this fascinator.

With a few more weeks to go there’s a good chance Ill change my mind (again) girls, I’m not on my own, right?

Home of the Titanic

What used to be Albion House is formally now known as 30 James street – home of the Titanic, last year I had arranged an interview with the owner of the build, Lawrence Kenwright unfortunelty he was unable to attend the interview but that resulted into me having my very own personal tour of 30 James street which still hadn’t been opened to the public! ( I know who did I think I am having my own personal tour!) although it was still under construction  it was amazing!

This building had been unoccupied for years so when I got speaking to one of the builders I was dying to know if anything had been left by the previous occupiers, he then showed me these two original copper names plates that had been left (Blue Star Line and Lambert and Hope) baring in mind these copper plates are a piece of history I felt pretty special having the chance to hold it also making sure I didn't go and drop it.

Ever since it opened officially to the public I have been dying to get down and see how it looks completely finished! So what better way to start the weekend off then a Friday fun-day having afternoon tea, I was in my element, never mind the champagne you could have unlimited tea!

Unlimited tea is perfect if you are a tea addict like myself! but it was Friday the sun was out, champagne was going down a treat (do i need anymore excuses) so the drinks didn't stop there, out came the drinks menu, top of the list Liverpool Gin, if you haven't tried it then you have too!! you will not be disappointed!

Carpathia Champagne Bar is situated on the very top floor of the building with its very own rooftop bar,you have views of the  Three Graces, River Mersey and Albert Dock what more could you want while visiting the city!

When Off the Peg met Mr James ...

Here at Off the Peg we love to find new and upcoming brands and we’ve found it with Mr James. Exclusive handmade clothing and accessories are available for gentlemen of style. In a recent interview, we discovered an insight as to what can be expected from the collection launching spring 2015.

What is Mr James all about?

“Mr James is a modern brand, the idea came about really with the guy on the move, it all started with the wash/toilet bag ours is a little different than the conventional stereotype.
I wanted something to be on hand quickly and organised when you travel.
The idea and concept evolved to thinking if we do a wash bag then why not another accessory such as the pocket square with a slightly different edge and style, such as making them double sided. From pocket squares we then thought of all the necessities men need and must have. We have tried to be different yet conventional as well as being as much as we can in today’s fashion market - unique.”
Handmade silk pocket squares

Who is your style inspiration for Mr James?

“I guess living abroad all these years and out of the UK not only have I been lucky enough to sample so many different cultures and styles, but I’ve always wanted to ensure my British roots are clearly seen, the best way for me in doing this was the clothes I wore. Being abroad and having so many cosmopolitan friends with so many influences sparks so many ideas. I recently came across Python skin (quite the norm here in Asia) so decided we would incorporate this into a line itself with phone covers, key holders and a money clip!
In terms of people who inspire me, of course a lot goes to my British roots, a few in particular David Beckham and Nick Wooster.”

What inspired you to create your collection?
“I guess after tailor making over 500 suits for myself and all my friends the last 8 years which was not even a hobby, it was just something I did. Suiting up buddies and constantly being asked where my suit was from or where did I find the pocket square or tie I had on. I became a bit too much for the tailors explaining it was never quite perfect enough or the stitching needed redoing. I decided if you wanted something doing right then do it yourself.
Mr James is still not my hobby ...... it’s my passion, I live and breathe Mr James, spending my time drawing, sketching, planning the ideas just don’t stop.”

What products can people expect from Mr James in 2015?

“I’m Launching my personal tailoring service to Los Angeles, hopefully over the next year we will have one or two more fitting stations in the US. We have our own online collection available shirts, blazers and accessory’s we have introduced a shirt members service for those wanting to automatically receive three shirts every six months.

We have a men’s leather duffle bag that has been tested to last any amount of weight in it. Again I’ve tried to be realistic about it, practical but different to the normal luxury high end priced ones, but way more durable than the standard.  You can expect good quality at affordable prices, hoping customers will appreciate that and stay with us for years to come.

The python skin accessory range is different and a must have, also many requests are being made about our sunglasses as well as being a fashion item you must have, we thought we can at least make it safe and durable unlike most fashion sunglasses, we found the best UV polarized lens available to ensure the glasses do their job!.”

Look dapper in Mr James sunglasses

When and where will Mr James be available?

“He’s available everywhere, we deliver to any part of the world  all our products are available online at
www.mrjames-menswear.com  as for me I’ll be mainly in LA over the next year as well as working with our factories. We will hit Paris & Lyon over the next few months for fitting days possibly Auckland as we have requests coming in from there too.”

Sum up Mr James in three words

“Creative, Innovative, Dapper”

                                        … Coming soon

Hat Obsessed

I admit my love for hats is growing daily and i'm not afraid to show it, I mean what's not to love about them, they give any outfit that finishing touch that it needs!

"Fashion is a kind of communication, it's a language without words. A great hat speaks for itself "

I am always on the look out for new style of hats and if you are a hat lover like myself i'm sure will agree, you can never have too many! The best thing about them too is they don't have to break the bank to look good.
